It feels a little funny that my first product review is for a garbage can—but this one truly deserves it. We’ve had this trash can for over eight years, and it has been an absolute game-changer.
When we first moved into our home, we had a basic plastic can. That worked fine… until we added a curious 9-month-old who was determined to explore everything, including the trash. We kept putting off buying a better one because we didn’t want to spend the money. Then, a few months later, we brought home a lab puppy who was just as interested in what was inside the garbage. That’s when we knew it was time to upgrade.
I’m an avid review reader, and I kept seeing people rave about this can on Amazon—one person even said they “fell in love” with it. I remember thinking, Calm down, it’s just a garbage can. But after owning it for this long… I get it.
This thing has survived eight years and two not-always-gentle kids constantly using the step to open the lid. More importantly, the lid successfully kept all of our kids—two human and one furry—out of the trash during their most curious stages. It also does a great job of keeping odors contained, even on the days I forget to take the trash out right away.
Simplehuman makes liners made specifically to fit this trash can - code P liners. I have also linked those above. We have always used these liners and haven’t been disappointed. They fit perfectly and have never ripped, even when we overstuff the garbage.
Overall, I highly recommend this garbage can! If you never thought you’d be impressed by a garbage can, neither did I—but here we are.
