Dyson V8 Cordless Vacuum
REASONS WE LOVE THIS PRODUCT:
Owned and used daily for 6–7 years, often multiple times per day
One full charge cleans approximately 1,500 sq. ft. of carpet and hard floors
Two suction modes: regular (great for daily use) and max (drains battery quickly)
Easy to empty canister compared to newer models
Extremely durable—holds up to kids helping, everyday wear, and less-than-gentle handling
Includes a washable filter; off-brand replacement filters work well
Excellent for daily crumbs, pet hair, and general maintenance cleaning
Reliable, convenient, and still one of the most-used household tools years after purchase
I recommend this vacuum to anyone who will listen. We’ve had it for 6–7 years (and yes, I’m absolutely picturing my son doing the hand motion as I type that—if you know, you know), and I use it every single day, multiple times a day.
This is a cordless Dyson that comes with a wall-mounted charging base. We installed ours in the pantry—by some miracle, the builders actually put an outlet in there—and it’s been the perfect spot. On a full charge, I can vacuum our entire house, which is about 1,500 square feet of both carpet and hard floors. It has two modes: a regular setting and a “max” suction mode. The max mode has never lasted very long for us and drains the battery quickly, so I keep it on the regular setting, which lasts 30+ minutes for me.
About a year ago, the battery started dying within minutes instead of its typical 30+ minutes. We briefly considered upgrading to a newer model (specifically the V10), but during my research I realized that with the newer versions you have to remove the stick to empty the canister. That was a deal-breaker for me. Instead, we bought a replacement battery directly from Dyson, and it was immediately back to working like it did on day one.
This vacuum is incredibly durable. I take care of our things, but I don’t baby them—and this one has held up to kids helping with chores, less-than-gentle handling, and the occasional banging on the canister while emptying it to remove all the dust. It also has a filter inside the top of the canister. I’ll admit I’m not the best at changing it regularly, and it still works great. I’ve even used a knock-off replacement filter with no issues, so you don’t have to stick to name-brand replacements.
In our house, this vacuum gets the most use in the kitchen for crumbs from kids (who eat like squirrels) and dog hair. It doesn’t do an amazing job with large food pieces, but it handles everyday messes really well.
Overall, this vacuum has proven to be reliable, easy to use, and worth every penny after years of daily use—and it’s still one of my most-used household items.
